Parent App Information

From autumn term 2017……..
We changed from the Capita-Sims service “Sims Learning Gateway” to their Parent-App service which may be accessed via phones/tablets (there are Apps for both the Apple and Android platforms) and on PCs/computers where it is easily accessible from any standard web browser such as Microsoft Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Apple Safari etc

This is available to all parents/carers who have provided us with individual, personal eMail addresses.   The invitation eMail (which is sent from the Capita service account) describes how to complete the secure sign-up process.  Please note that the ‘invitation eMail’ is time limited and will expire if you do not respond promptly.   This is another security requirement under data protection rules/guidance.   If your invitation expires, please contact the school using the contact form on this website.
The invitation is sent out to new parents/carers after the students have started at the school (Eg September for new Y7 intake).

The service is available to all parents/carers with ‘parental responsibility’ (as defined in legislation), and for whom we have a valid/current eMail address on our records.   We are advised that eMail addresses must be individual and not shared addresses, and also advised that they should not be employers’ eMail addresses.

Student reports will continue to be emailed to parents/carers using SIMS In-Touch. These reports will also be uploaded to the Sims Parent-App service where they can be read once logged in.

Both In-Touch and the SIMS Parent-App are secure communication services which meet the Data Protection Requirements as defined by UK and EU legislation (Data Protection Act 2018 – DPA, & the EU General Data Protection Regulation 2016/679 – GDPR)  the service is registered with the  Information Commissioner’s Office.

Your username can be tied to your personal eMail address, and access is controlled through the service we obtain from Capita-Sims (who ‘host’ the data).  This is described in the sign-up process eMail from Capita’s service.
